Not Concerned At All


When they finally reached the top of the trail, Rebecca’s unease intensified. Anna and Andrew were already there, standing side by side, flushed and laughing like they were the only two people in the world.

They showed no sign of worry about having left Trent and Rebecca behind. If anything, their focus on each other had only deepened. Rebecca stared at them, her chest tight. Their energy—it didn’t feel maternal or platonic. It felt like something else entirely.
