Apologies


As they trudged along, Rebecca tried to make light conversation with Trent to keep both of their spirits up. But then, without warning, Trent let something slip that made her stop in her tracks.

“Sorry about that,” he said softly, eyes cast downward. His voice was heavy, as if burdened by something unspoken. He looked at her briefly, then away again, unsure whether he should go on.
