A Filthy Occupation

Who’s afraid of heights? We bet many of us aren’t exactly fond of standing on a tall building and looking down, right? But did you know there are people who actually love those kinds of experiences? They do stunts most of us can’t even imagine—like balancing on ropes. And as if that’s not enough, they also play musical instruments while hanging in the air!

The people you see in the photo are wearing harnesses, but even with those, it remains quite terrifying. So… why are they up there anyway? These individuals are part of a slacklining music group called Houle Douce, and the photo was taken in 2018. These two artists were rehearsing for an aerial performance in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, in Hunan Province, China. At 1400 meters above sea level, they showcased their courage and talent—while the world watched. Without a doubt, these two deserve appreciation and respect for their extraordinary work.
