Mysterious Letter

They returned home mentally and emotionally drained, expecting to regroup—but something unexpected was waiting. A plain envelope sat in their mailbox, with no return address and only their last name written in block letters. Alex brought it in, puzzled. “Who even sends letters anymore?” he asked. Mrs. Johnson opened it slowly, her face tightening with each sentence she read. “Someone’s watching us,” she said softly, handing it to Tom.

The letter didn’t offer information, only warnings cloaked in vague language. It referenced Nyx directly and hinted that he wasn’t just unusual—he might be dangerous. Ethan scanned it quickly. “They know things we don’t,” he said. The letter didn’t frighten them as much as it provoked them. They had ventured into uncertainty willingly—but now someone else clearly knew more and wanted them to act. The mystery was deepening by the day.
