The Shelter’s Hint
Grace finally called the shelter again, hoping they’d overlooked something. The staff was kind but had little to offer. “We found him wandering alone,” one of the workers repeated. Grace pressed harder. “Isn’t there anything else? Where exactly was he found?” After a pause, the worker added, “Near an abandoned warehouse just outside town.”
Though the information was vague, it was more than they had before. “The warehouse might have clues,” Grace told the rest of the family after hanging up. It wasn’t much, but it gave them a direction—something to chase. With renewed focus, they began planning their visit to the mysterious location that could hold the answers they desperately needed.
