Unusual Pattern

As Dr. Morgan examined Nyx’s fur more carefully, a frown began to form on his face. The markings were far too uniform, their symmetry unsettling. “These don’t look like typical Cane Corso patterns,” he murmured, more to himself than to anyone else. Ethan stepped forward slightly. “What do you mean? What’s wrong with the markings?”

The vet ran his fingers gently across Nyx’s coat again, peering at the way the stripes formed perfect shapes across his body. “It’s not just that they’re unusual,” he said softly. “It’s that they’re almost too precise—too engineered.” The family stood frozen, each trying to grasp the meaning of his words.
